Hello Everybody
Although the show opens at 9.00, I was thinking of getting there for 10.00am.
How does that suit others ?
If ok, meet at Excelby Services on the A19 at 9.15.
Drive down to Newby and meet Gman on the outside 9.45-10.00

A difficult one Rizzla guessing from afar. Some years ago I had a similar predicament turned out it was my doughnuts all fine when cool, when hot different story, as you know things swell up and cause leaks. When replaced the old ones looked ok but when pressing them they were pretty worn & cracked. It’s just a matter of finding that leak. Possibly

I’ve watched a few of the Italia Autos vids on YouTube. Have yet to watch the restoration one on the blue Coupe.
Anyone on here had work done by Italia Autos?

I’d like to get a pair of keys for removing the original Clarion stereo but the eBay link in the thread above no longer works.
There appear to be two types but I don’t know which one is “type 2”. I’ve attached a picture, can anyone tell me if it’s the top or bottom ones I need please?

I've been going up and down to Cornwall a fair bit over the last few months, since having the Merc I've been a little worried that the VIS wouldn't cut it anymore. The Merc has very similar performance figures (MPH/HP etc) and being 20yrs newer with a quarter of the mileage, I feared the VIS might be out gunned by this new usurper, plus the fact I haven't been going far in the coop recently, there was a doubt and not a little jeopardy. I needn't have worried! It never missed a beat and I would say out performed it's younger rival admirally. I had an interesting moment when a large Vauxhall aggresively cut me up at some traffic lights, he cut across from the outside lane at the lights which went down to two lanes fairly quickly (maybe he feared he wouldn't get back in if I chose to give it some welly). He sat in front revving for a drag start, I must admit it sounded good, a V6 at least possibly V8 if there is such thing, he roared anyway, I just followed not expecting to see it again but after a mile or so I caught it up, When I came up behind he just pulled over and let me through, given our previous encounter I fully expected some acceleration and undertaking but no he just rolled over and soon disappeared from the rear view mirror. The above was the only time the coop was headed in the whole trip, it's great to have such a useable classic that can more than keep pace with modern cars even those with similar performance figures!

I mentioned it and he said it would be expensive especiallyif i got aomeone else to do it, and probably quite difficult but probably worth it due to how little 16vts there is.

Interesting vid. I also found this sprinty restoration which may have already been flagged up here at some stage. I was intrigued as I'm sure I knew that coupé almost 20 years ago when it used to be parked outside the school I usually worked at; once I met the driver and chatted briefly, when he introduced me to this forum. I'd never been on one before but I joined and have been a member (later a Club member) ever since It's apparently SORN'ed just now, last MoT in 2022

I used a handy app called Total Car Check while I was searching. It gives you some basic info for free (including the MOT history, which you can get from the DVLA website but it's handy to have it all in one place) and you can pay to have a full HPI check if you want to (which I did for the Coupe I bought). For the car you mention it says that has previously been seen listed for £11,999 in Oct 2022 (at 36,500 miles) and £7,995 in Oct 2023 (at 36,500) miles so it looks like it's been up for sale a good while and hasn't travelled anywhere for a couple of years - something to bear in mind if you do decide to have a look at it.
I think there was a spate of ads on eBay where this car (and another Coupe) were being listed for much less using the pictures from Autotrader. It's usually obvious that the eBay listings are bogus based on the seller's feedback or the description. I expect the Autotrader listing is the genuine one but you should make sure the owner/seller is who they say they are just in case!
Only other thing to consider is that, based on my limited time as an owner, I have the impression parts are becoming harder to source for all Coupes but it seems to be more of an issue for the 16valve cars.

Although this is an old post so not sure if still relevant, a red LE appeared on Car and classic yesterday coming up for auction, it's heavily modified, 420 hp etc, being a LE will put the price up but paradoxically spending all that money moding it may make worth less.

Hiya , Many thanks for the reply yes I think that's a good summary. just started looking so will certainly investigate further.
always liked the coupe - remember looking at them when they came out - went to look at a 20VT at the local dealer back then, opened the bonnet, looked at what seemed mega complex back then and ran away. now its all a bit more normal.
ill check out the buyers guide - what's deemed the goto workshop manual - im used to a Bentley manual do these have similar ?
many thanks Tony

I don't know it at all but it looks a very tidy example with little sign of corrosion in the suspect exterior places; the driver's seat bolster seems to show little signs of wear which is indicated by the low mileage. I didn't know, even though I had one myself, that there was height adjustment in both driver and passenger seats? Unless it's referring to the lumbar support, driver's side, but that is mentioned separately. Worth a look certainly if it's not prohibitively far from you; it'll give you a chance to inspect inside the boot at the complex seam with the wheel arch, as well as the boot floor. Always good if you can get any shots of the underneath too but that could be tricky unless you have a video camera on a small trolley you can pull through . Paintwork looks well-cared for, no visible lacquer peel although the roof isn't visible except slightly in one pic. No mention in the ad of service history, last full cambelt change, replacement parts, though so maybe with the help of the Buyer's guide on here you can be prepared with a checklist

This is my first spring with my new-to-me Turbo Plus and my first in a Coupe for 15 years. You're right, these need to be used regularly and I won't take mine out in the wet so it's been too long a wait. I love having the sunroof open on a sunny day with the 5 cylinder burbling away. Nothing better.

Took advantage of a warm sunny weekend- to finally get some coupe time.
She has had a service-fresh oil, filters, plugs, - and so a proper shakedown was needed.
Cue several hours of driving- over two days. Taking in the sun and enjoying that five pot burble. She did not miss a beat and felt great-even though I know that there are some long term things n the near future that I want sorted.
Its the not driving them enough regularly that kills them. And it was great to finally have the weather to have her back out. Even the a/cis still working and keeping the inside cool.
Time to plan where to take her this summer - eu is out as the calendar is already full - but Uk/scotland is possible. I doubt she will be going to wales with the 20mph nonsense.
But just nice to have been out for a spin-more to come!
Regards
MM
